P’kula college rewarded

Panchkula: Government Postgraduate College, Sector 1, Panchkula, has been honoured for the best drug de-addiction awareness campaign. Krishan Kumar Bedi, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, gave a reward of Rs 50,000 to the college at a state-level programme held in Kurukshetra on the occasion of International Day for the People with Special Abilities. Talk on air quality

Chandigarh: Poor air quality days being faced by various cities are increasing every year and even small cities are becoming the hotspot of air pollution. This was noted Suman Mor, Department of Environment Studies, PU. Mor was speaking at a three-day training programme on ‘Indoor & Outdoor Air Pollution, Standards & Impacts on Human Health: Case Studies’, which concluded here on Friday. Woman’s purse snatched

Ambala: Two unidentified bike-borne youths snatched a purse containing Rs 10,000, a gold chain, a mobile phone and some other valuable items from a woman on the Jain College road in Ambala City on Friday. According to information, Deepika Rani, a resident of Delhi, was on her way on a rickshaw towards her parental house at New Shalimar Vihar in Ambala City along with her son. When she reached the Jain College road, two miscreants snatched the purse from her. The incident was recorded in a CCTV camera. The victim has given a complaint to the police. TNS

Rs 1 lakh donated for cow shelter

Patiala: Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) chairman KK Sharma donated Rs 1 lakh from his income to the Radha Krishna Gau Sewa Samiti for a cow shelter. Sharma gave the donation cheque in a function organised by the samiti. Lauding efforts of the organisation he said, “The organisation is working for the welfare of cows. The samiti has transformed cow shelters into a pilgrimage spot.” Radha Krishna Gau Sewa Samiti founder Anish Mangla, chairman Vinod Bansal and president Surinder Jindal appreciated gesture of the PRTC chairman on the occasion.
