Overcharging: Ex-contractor of multi-level parking booked

The Panchkula police have booked the former contractor of the multi-level parking at Sector 1, on the complaint of the Red Cross Society, two months after terminating the contract. The contract was cancelled after complaints of overcharging were received.

In March, after complaints of overcharging at the city’s first multi-level parking, Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Mukul Kumar had ordered to cancel the contract of the then parking contractor.

Even the then city magistrate had submitted its report to the DC, in which it was stated that the contractor was overcharging commuters. In the inquiry report, the contractor even had accepted violations by his staff and had tendered an apology.

Following the inquiry report, the Red Cross Society had cancelled the contract of Lal Chand, the then parking contractor. — TNS
