Over 59K throng Mansa Devi, Kali Mata temples

Over 59,000 devotees paid obeisance at Mata Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula and Kali Mata temple in Kalka to mark the beginning of the nine-day Ashwin Navratra festival on Wednesday.

The administration has arranged special buses in collaboration with the CTU to ferry devotees from Zirakpur, Chandigarh and Panchkula to the temple during the festival. A sum of Rs 15.54 lakh was donated at the temple on the first day of the Navratras. Four gold items and 37 silver items were also donated at the temple.

Deputy Commissioner and Chief Administrator of the Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board Mukul Kumar said: “A total donation of Rs 15.54 lakh was made — Rs 11.28 lakh at the Mansa Devi shrine and Rs 4.25 lakh at the Kali Mata temple in Kalka — along with 120 Canadian dollars on Day 1 of the festival. Around 42,000 devotees paid obeisance at the Mansa Devi temple while 17,000 devotees visited Kali Mata temple”.
