Over 300 golfers to tee off in Gurugram leg

Former India cricketer Murali Karthik will lead 300-odd amateur golfers in the Gurugram leg of the MercedesTrophy 2019 which tees off at the ITC Classic Golf Resort on Tuesday.

The Gurugram leg will be played over three days and six qualifiers — two each day — will make it to the National Finals, scheduled to be held in Pune from March 27-29.

The first six legs of qualification in Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Hyderabad saw 24 spots being booked for the National Finals and post the seventh leg in Gurugram, 13 more spots will be up for grabs in the remaining qualification legs, the organisers said on Monday. 

The 19th edition of the MercedesTrophy will travel to five more cities after Gurugram, including Greater Noida, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Lucknow before returning to Pune for the final. 

Three winners of the National Finals will compete against those from tournaments played in 60 countries all over the world in the 

30th edition of the MercedesTrophy World Final in Stuttgart, Germany.
