Patiala, September 14

As many as 2054 cases were settled in the National Lok Adalat (except non-compoundable criminal cases) today. The Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Justice RK Jain, Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mohali, and under the guidance of Rajinder Aggarwal, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala.

Twenty-two Benches were constituted and of 4,563 cases taken up for hearing, 2054 cases were settled involving an amount of Rs 45,54,73,327 through compromise.

Aggarwal visited each Lok Adalat Bench and inspired the parties to resolve their disputes amicably.

Except non-compoundable criminal cases, all kinds of cases even at pre-litigation stage can be brought before the Lok Adalats for a settlement.

Deepti Gupta, CJM, said a case settled in the Lok Adalat is a win-win situation for both parties.

The judges appealed to the public to put their pending disputes before the Lok Adalats and save their valuable time and hard-earned money. — TNS
