Chandigarh, May 16

As many as 135 members of the OT Technician Staff Association have threatened to go on strike from June 1 to protest against the callous attitude of the PGIMER authorities.

Jagjit Singh, president of the association, accused the PGI authorities for backtracking from their promises and denying the salary right to the OT technicians.

Jagjit Singh said, “While technicians in the Radiology Department who have the same education qualification are drawing more salaries, the OT technicians in other departments are being paid less salaries. On February 16, we had a meeting with the PGIMER Director and highlighted the disparity. During the meeting, we were assured that all issues will be resolved. It had been three months but nothing has been done so far.”

Sources said if the OT technicians would proceed on strike, it would badly affect the emergency and other scheduled surgeries.
