Chandigarh: The police have arrested one person while possessing 150 gram of charas. According to the police, Rajinder Kumar, alias Lucky, a resident of Old Indira Colony, Mani Majra, was arrested near Subhash Nagar in Mani Majra. A case has been registered against him at the IT Park police station. TNS

Two held for robbery 

Chandigarh: Two persons have been arrested for robbing a resident of Dhanas. According to the police, the complainant, Rashid of EWS Colony, Dhanas, alleged that two unknown persons looted Rs 200 and a bicycle from him at Sector 51 on July 8. A case in this connection was registered at the Sector 49 police station. Later, the police arrested two persons, identified as Raju and Pawan, both residents of Burail village, in the case. TNS

Man held with 155-gm ganja

Zirakpur: The Zirakpur police on Monday arrested a drug peddler with 155 gm of ganja. The accused has been identified as Manto, a resident of Bihar. The police had laid a naka on VIP road, Zirakpur. The accused who was coming towards the Zirakpur side, suddenly changed his way and started moving in the opposite direction on seeing the police party. On suspicion,the police apprehended him and recovered 155 gm of ganja. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act against the accused at the Zirakpur police station. OC

Three held in murder case 

Fatehgarh Sahib: The district police claimed to have solved an 8-year-old blind murder case with the arrest of the wife of the victim, whose body was thrown into the Bhakra canal. Her two male accomplices have also been arrested. Addressing mediapersons, Harpal Singh, SP (Investigation), said that the deceased Mohamad Abdul was married to Mehmool Khatoon. They had shifted to Punjab from Bihar in 2006 and started living at Attewali village. He said the wife of the deceased Mohamad Abdul developed relations with Satwinder Singh, resident of Mairan village, and started living with him. Mohamad Abdul in 2010 went to the house of Satwinder Singh, who offered him liquor. Intoxicated, he started abusing Satwinder Singh and his brother Gurnam Singh. They allegedly thrashed him to death. The SP said they put the body in a gunny bag and threw it into the Bhakra canal near Fatehpur village in Bassi Pathana. The accused have been booked under Sections 302, 201 and 34 of the IPC. OC
