Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police have arrested a Mani Majra resident while possessing five grams of smack. The accused, identified as Kuldeep Singh, was arrested from near a gurdwara in Mani Majra on April 24. A case has been registered against the accused at the Mani Majra police station. TNS

Laptops stolen from hostel

Chandigarh: Two laptops have been stolen from a hostel at Panjab University. According to the police, complainant Paramvir Singh, a PU student residing at Boys’ Hostel No. 1, reported that two laptops were stolen from the hostel room on April 23. A case of theft has been registered at the Sector 11 police station and an investigation has been initiated. TNS

Theft reported at plot

Chandigarh: An unknown person managed to steal one DVR camera, a monitor and an AC outlet from a plot at the Industrial Area, Phase I, on the intervening night of April 23 and 24. A case has been registered at the Industrial Area police station on the complaint of Lalit Mittal. TNS

Draw of lots for watermelon sites

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation conducted draw of lots for 30 watermelon sites here on Wednesday. It was conducted on a lease basis at Rs 150 plus GST per day for sites on V-4 roads and Rs 100 plus GST per day for sites on V-5 roads. The draw of lot was held under the observation of Heera Negi and Anil Kumar Dubey, MC councillors and concerned officials in the MC building. According to details, the MC had invited applications from the general public for draw of lots for 37 sites. It received a total of 1,129 applications. A total of 30 sites were allotted on Wednesday. Five sites remained vacant as nobody applied for the same. In addition, two sites were cancelled due to non-fulfilment of terms and conditions.TNS
