One held for snatching purse

The police have arrested a youth for snatching a purse containing Rs 1,000 and documents from a person in Mani Majra.

According to the police, complainant Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Jagatpura, Mohali, had complained that a pedestrian snatched his purse from near PWD store, Shastri Nagar, Mani Majra, on July 13. Acting on the complaint, a case was registered at the IT Park police station.

The police said on July 14 a police party led by Inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO IT Park, was patrolling near the forest area of Shastri Nagar. The police party spotted a youth who tried to flee after seeing the cops.

The police apprehended the youth who was identified as Dalchand, alias Dallu (20), a resident of Mauli Jagran. The police recovered the snatched purse from the accused, who was also identified by the complainant.
