A seven-year-old girl was killed after a speeding car hit her in Ramgarh when she was returning from a local shrine along with her parents last night.

The victim has been identified as Khushpreet Kaur, a resident of Ramgarh village.

The father of the victim, Sanjeev Kumar, a driver, in his complaint to the police, said they had gone to a temple at 8 pm and when they were walking back home, a rashly driven Hyundai i10 car hit his daughter, who was walking ahead of them. The girl’s mother also received minor injuries in the accident.

The car driver rushed the girl and her mother in his car to the Sector 6 Civil Hospital, where doctors declared the girl brought dead. By that time, the car driver had left the hospital. The police said they had the registration number of the car and its driver would be traced.

The Chandimandir police have registered a case under Sections 279 and 304A of the IPC.
