Mohali, November 18

The NHAI authorities at Mohali are all set to start digital payments via ‘FASTag lane’ at toll plazas on national highways here from December 1.

KL Sachdeva, DGM-cum-project director, NHAI, said four toll plazas — Dappar (Ambala-Chandigarh NH 152), Behrampur (Kurali-Kiratpur (NH 205), Azizpur (Zirakpur-Patiala NH 64) and Dhareri Jattan (Zirakpur-Patiala NH 64) – had been set up in Mohali.

“Two nodal officers have been appointed for Dappar and Behrampur toll plazas, while the rest will be supervised by officials of the state Public Works Department,” Sachdeva said.

He said as per directions from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, electronic toll collection (ETC) would start at all toll plazas across the country from December 1. The step had been taken to remove bottlenecks and seamless movement of traffic and collection of user fee as per the notified rated using passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Sachdeva added that FASTag may be purchased from point of sale location set up by various banks, NH fee plazas, RTOs, Common Service Centers, transport hubs, bank branches, selected petrol pumps etc. Besides it may be purchased online on Amazon and by visiting websites of different banks such as SBI, ICICI, Axis, Paytm Payment Banks, HDFC, IDFC etc.

“We have already been running a trial run at Dappar toll plaza to spread awareness among road users regarding 100 percent ETC implementation”, said Sachdeva.
