Panchkula, October 18

Terming the ‘Sankalp Patra’ issued by incumbent BJP MLA Gian Chand Gupta as a ‘Jhooth Patra’, Congress candidate Chander Mohan today said Gupta’s only resolve and commitment was to befool voters.

He said if Gupta was serious about the development of Panchkula, growth and development of the city would have been apparent. He said: “I won four consecutive times and there wasn’t any scam in almost 20 years of my regime. Whatever little beautification of roundabouts and city gates has been done by Gupta was nothing, but loot of public money.”

Having a dig at Gupta, Chander Mohan said if the sitting MLA had spent just two days in rural areas of the Barwala belt, he would have understood the graveness of their problems.

He said illegal mining in Panchkula was being carried out by the sand mafia in connivance with BJP leaders and the MLA was well aware of this. He has not mentioned a word about checking illegal mining in his ‘Sankalp Patra’. He said after coming to power, the Congress would investigate the mining cases and the mafia would be put behind bars.

Santosh Sharma, former Chairman of the Go Seva Commission, who had deserted the Congress to join the BJP, returned to the Congress to support Chander Mohan. Her return to the Congress within 10 days is a huge setback for the BJP. — TNS
