Chandigarh, October 10

Fukran (42) has been let off in a drug case after the prosecution failed to prove the allegations levelled against him. He was arrested with 25 gram heroin on October 11, 2017.

As per the prosecution, a police team was patrolling in an area in Sector 40 to curb snatching/theft incidents. The suspect was seen coming from the opposite side about 6.15 pm. On seeing the police, he turned back and started moving fast.

On the basis of suspicion, the police stopped him. He tried to throw a polythene bag he was carrying along. Before he could throw it, the police team caught hold of him. On checking the polythene bag, 25 grams of heroin was recovered from it.

The suspect could not produce any licence or permit for carrying the contraband. The defence counsel argued that the suspect was falsely implicated. After the arguments, the court acquitted the suspect of the charges framed against him. — TNS
