Mohali, September 18

A local court today released Canada-based Punjabi singer Elly Mangat on bail here today.

The singer has to furnish two bail bonds of Rs 1 lakh each. Mangat was arrested on September 11 from Sector 88 where he came to settle a score with his rival singer Rami Randhawa following a war of words between the duo on the social media.

During the court proceedings today, Mangat’s counsel alleged that he was ill-treated and tortured by the police in the custody.

“We will bring the matter to the notice of the higher authorities of the Punjab Police,” claimed the counsel.

The police had registered a case under Sections 294, 295 and 596 of the IPC against Mangat at the Sohana police station. Rami Randhawa and his brother Prince have also been booked in the case.
