An SUV driver escaped after hitting a PCR vehicle near Sector 16 here yesterday. According to the police, ASI Kama Singh, in-charge of a PCR vehicle, reported that a person driving a Scorpio sped away after hitting the PCR vehicle near the Cricket Stadium chowk. They managed to note down the registration number of the Scorpio following which the police were informed.

A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the personal safety and life of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the IPC has been registered against the unknown SUV driver. The police said the driver would be identified soon as they had noted down the registration number of the vehicle, which was registered in Jalandhar. —TNS
