Mohali, August 23

A high drama was witnessed as the Police Department swung into action after the police control room received a call regarding alleged kidnapping of a youth here today.

The police said a call was received that five to six men have allegedly kidnapped a youth, in his early 20’s, in their car from the Verka milk plant road in Phase VI at 3.15 pm. A passer-by, who claimed his name to be Ravi, informed the police that the youth was walking towards Dara Studio when he saw some men forcibly pull the youth into their Honda City with the registration number PB-10-BN-1499.

The police said Ravi had informed that men got out of their car and started arguing with the youth first and then attacked him and forcefully abducted him and sped away towards the Dara Studio crossing. According to the sources, the matter seemed to be a money dispute as during the preliminary investigations by the police, it came to the fore that all men knew each other. The person who was allegedly abducted did not raise any alarm to save himself, the sources added.

Lakhwinder Singh, SHO, Phase 1 police station, said they had received information around 3.20 pm and rushed to the spot. He said there was no CCTV camera around so no footage of the incident could be recovered. He said no FIR has been registered till now.
