A local court today convicted a native of Bihar of kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl. The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on August 26.

On September 28, 2018, Dharam Kumar (22) was booked on the complaint of the victim’s father. The complainant had stated that his daughter went missing from home when he and his wife were away. He feared that she might have been kidnapped by Dharam, who lived nearby.

On October 6, the police arrested the youth and recovered the girl held captive by him in Bihar. A medical examination of the girl confirmed rape. Acase under Sections 363, 366 and 376 (2) of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act was registered against the youth. — TNS
