The police have booked a couple for allegedly thrashing a woman (34) and poisoning her buffalo by feeding urea (chemical) resulting in its death.

Ranjana of Ganeshpur village in Chandimandir told the police that her daughter Mehak was going to give tea to her aunt when the son of Rai Singh and Suman pushed her. Tea fell on her hands causing slight burn injuries.

Ranjana said when she took up the matter with the couple, they started misbehaving with her. The victim’s brother-in-law Naib Singh and his wife Rani Devi, along with neighbour Maam Chand, also reached the spot. The suspects also abused them before thrashing Ranjana and her brother-in-law.

She said on Saturday morning she was informed by a neighbour that her buffalo was hitting its head in the wall and blood was coming out of the cattle’s mouth. The family found that the buffalo was given urea, which was allegedly mixed with the fodder by the suspects. The police have registered a case against the couple. — TNS
