Movement of trains was affected for more than two hours after a heavy landslide was witnessed on the Kalka-Shimla track near Kalka.

The incident took place on the track near Gurbax Colony, Kalka. A train coming from Shimla was stopped a few hundred yards before the site.

After receiving information, the Railway authorities rushed to the site and pressed two JCBs to clear the narrow gauge line of the rubble. Later, the train was allowed to move to Kalka.

Houses on hills near the landslide site were also in danger as the earth near the houses has moved due to heavy rain in the past few days. — TNS
