Devki Anand at his vocal best

CHANDIGARH: The North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, in collaboration with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, presented a musical evening ‘Parwaaz-e- Mausiqi’ that had the performance of veteran Bollywood singer-composer Devki Anand at Tagore Theatre today.

The North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, in collaboration with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, presented a musical evening ‘Parwaaz-e- Mausiqi’ that had the performance of veteran Bollywood singer-composer Devki Anand at Tagore Theatre today.

Devki Anand opened up the concert with poet Arsh Sehbai’s ghazal ‘Meri hyaat mein barson ki pyas rehne doh’ and BD Kalia Hamdam’s popular ghazal ‘Tum bin din soona lagta hai’. Besides, he presented more ‘Dard-e-dil apna suna kar’, ‘Ya Khuda ab toh’ and ‘Itna toh keejiye Ishq ki khatir’.

Modulating his melodious voice, Devki Anand displayed his versatility as a singer-composer by rendering his compositions in all genres, including a Sufi number ‘Ye sab tumhara hai’. However, Devki was at his best with the ghazal ‘Aaidan nahi karida’ by Dr Surjit Patar and his own hit filmy song ‘Mere yaar da dola chalya’ from Bollywood film ‘ ‘Jija Saali’. Poet 

Jatinder Parwaaz anchored the programme.
