‘Best Paper Award’ for PU library asst in US

CHANDIGARH:The research paper of Dr Suman Lata, library assistant at the Department of English and Cultural Studies, PU, was selected for the ‘Best Paper Award’ in an international conference on qualitative and quantitative methods in libraries held at New York, the US, on June 4 and 5.

The research paper of Dr Suman Lata, library assistant at the Department of English and Cultural Studies, PU, was selected for the ‘Best Paper Award’ in an international conference on qualitative and quantitative methods in libraries held at New York, the US, on June 4 and 5. 

Dr Suman said, “I was given a certificate for my research on information literacy among faculty and students of medical colleges of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh.”

Dr Suman made an attempt to know the literacy skills of the faculty and students in medical colleges. The scope of the study was confined to 12 selected medical colleges. The findings were based on the data collected through 1,018 questionnaires filled by respondents of the medical colleges. It was found that online medical websites such as WebMD and eMedicine were frequently used by 63.43% of the respondents of Chandigarh which was slightly more than Haryana (61%) and Punjab (55.65%). — TNS
