Dirty water flows from taps, furious residents raise din

CHANDIGARH: Residents of some sectors in the city were shocked today when they got dirty water supply in the morning. After a hue and cry was raised over the issue, they got clean water supply in the evening.

Residents of some sectors in the city were shocked today when they got dirty water supply in the morning.

After a hue and cry was raised over the issue, they got clean water supply in the evening. “I have been living in Chandigarh for over 40 years, but have never seen such dirty water supply,” said Swadesh Talwar, a resident of Sector 44.

“We called up MC officials, including the Chief Engineer, after which the issue was resolved. The whole morning, we received dirty water supply. Normal supply was restored in the evening,” he said.

Salochna Devi, a resident of Burail, said, “We got dirty water supply in the morning. We had to arrange water from the neighbourhood. It is surprising that the authorities are making tall claims regarding providing 24X7 water supply in the near future, but have failed to provide basic water supply properly.”
