Chandigarh, April 21

Three motorcycle-borne miscreants robbed a man of his Activa scooter and Rs 1 lakh near the Transport light point last night.

Vinod Kumar (42), a resident of Panchkula, who runs a studio in Mullanpur, was returning home when the miscreants intercepted him and robbed him of his scooter with the cash lying in its glove box. The incident was reported around 11.45 pm.

The police were informed, who recorded the victim’s statement.

Sources said as soon as Vinod crossed the Transport light point, the miscreants stopped their motorcycle in front of his scooter. While one of them threatened the victim with a sharp weapon, the other two thrashed him. They then took away his scooter and escaped from the spot.

The police said they suspected that the robbers were aware about the cash lying in the glove box of the scooter. “The possibility of the suspects being known to the victim cannot be ruled out,” said a police official.

A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station.
