A bag containing “shagun” and around Rs 5 lakh was stolen by two juveniles at a wedding function in Zirakpur.

The bag, which also had gold ornaments and an ATM card, was with the bride’s mother, who had kept it on a table. Sources said a video of the function, in which the two juveniles are seen stealing the bag, had been provided to the police.

Complainant Supreet Singh, a resident of Phase 7, Mohali, told the police that the wedding ceremony of his sister took place at Hotel Regenta Almeida, Zirakpur, on April 14. At 2.17 pm, two juveniles, posing as guests, entered the hall and stole the bag, Supreet said.

The police said raids were being conducted in nearby colonies to nab the juveniles. A case under Section 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the IPC has been registered at the Zirakpur police station.
