Mohali, April 9

Much to delight of visitors, mainly senior citizens, posters and other advertisement material have been removed from the main entrance of Rose Garden in Phase 3B1, here.

Elated over the development, a group of senior citizens, who live nearby and visit the garden regularly, said they were happy to see the main entrance, which was cleaned up by MC officials.

The issue was highlighted in these columns under the title ‘Garden not rosy anymore: Elderly’ on April 8.

Swarn Chowdhary, a retired principal, said the garden was giving bad impression to visitors due to defacement.

“All our complaints in this regard fell on deaf ears. Today, we felt very happy to see the neat and clean entrance,” said Chowdhary.

Chowdhary, along with other senior citizens of the area, had removed all such material from the gate and walls of the garden a few weeks ago.

“Mindless people again pasted posters and other such material on the gate and walls. Now, we want the MC authorities to take action against those who install their advertisements here,” senior citizens said. — TNS
