Caught with vials, man gets 10-year jail

CHANDIGARH:A local court today sentenced a 35-year-old man to 10 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him for carrying 24 intoxicating injections.

A local court today sentenced a 35-year-old man to 10 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him for carrying 24 intoxicating injections.

According to the prosecution, a police team recovered 24 injections, including 12 of Buprenorophine and 12 of Pheneramine, from the possession of Ravi Shanker, a resident of Sector 41 here, in October 2017, near Buterla village in Sector 41. On seeing cops, the convict stopped and turned around to run away. However, he was overpowered by the cops. The police recovered 24 injections from his bag. Shanker failed to produce any licence or permit to carry the injections. A case under Section 22 of the NDPS Act was registered. — TNS
