Chandigarh, March 15

The Director of SAIF/CIL today held a meeting with the PU Scholars’ Association (PURSA). Members of the association had been demanding characterisation charges free/nominal for research scholars registered with the university.

The meeting ended with heated arguments with the PURSA accusing SAIF/CIL Director SK Mehta of being uncooperative and authoritarian. The association said, “Mehta completely disagreed to reduce even a single penny.”

Mehta said when four students came to discuss their demands with him, they were extremely rude. “One student called him and other faculty businessmen,” he said. — TNS
