MOHALI: The district court today awarded four-year sentence to an immigration consultant, who duped a number of people on the pretext of sending them abroad.

The district court today awarded four-year sentence to an immigration consultant, who duped a number of people on the pretext of sending them abroad.

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mohali, sent Deepak Arora, who was running his immigration office here, to four years term besides imposing a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.

According to the police, Deepak was booked on charge of committing a fraud of around Rs 77 crore with a number of people from various parts of Punjab and neighbouring states on pretext of sending them abroad.

A case in this regard was registered against him at the Phase 1 police station here.
