MP Kirron Kher has directed officials to complete the Smart City works in a time-bound manner. 

Addressing the third meeting of the Advisory Council, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd (CSCL), here today, she said the sewerage in the city being very old needed a revamp. The MP directed the Chief Engineer, MC, to prepare a detailed project report for strengthening the sewer lines in the city wherever needed so that funds could be sought from the government.

Giving details about the status of various Smart City works, MC Commissioner-cum-CEO, CSCL, KK Yadav said tenders for 24x7 water supply in Mani Majra, augmentation of five sewage treatment plants and construction of another plant with 2 MLD capacity at Kishangarh, public bike sharing and construction of animal carcass incineration centre would be received in February.

The UT Chief Engineer said the work on a subway in Sector 17 would be completed in February. 

The MP suggested building a tourist reception centre at Sector 17 plaza.

Mayor Rajesh Kumar Kalia was also present on the occasion. — TNS
