Woman hurt in roof collapse

A 22-year-old migrant woman sustained injuries when the roof of her house collapsed at Jagatpura village here this morning.

Sources said Seema Devi, the victim, was alone in her house while her husband Pradeep Kumar and brother-in-law Mukesh Kumar were away to their workplaces when the incident occurred at around 10 am.

“The roof fell on her. She was pulled out of the debris by the neighbours and other people. She sustained several injuries. However, her condition is fine now,” said Mukesh Kumar, a relative of the victim.

Mukesh Kumar claimed that the roof was leaking for the past several days.

“There was vegetative growth on the rooftop. We had asked the owner of the house many times to get the repairs done. Today, the incident occurred while it was raining,” he said.

The victim’s kin added that the injured Seema was taken to a hospital after the incident and was sent home after brief treatment.
