‘Translational research in field of neuroscience need of the hour’

An IBRO-funded international event, ‘4th IBRO/APRC Chandigarh Associate School on Translational Neuroscience’, began at the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, today to mark the platinum jubilee celebrations of the institute.

The event, which will continue till November 17, was inaugurated by the guest of honuor, Dr Pike See Universiti Putra Malaysia. He emphasised on the importance of translational research in the field on neuroscience. Translational neuroscience applies findings from fundamental laboratory research relating to brain structure and function to development of new therapies for neurodegenerative, neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental diseases.

Prof Kanwaljit Chopra, chairperson, UIPS, elaborated the success story of previous three IBRO schools hosted by the institute. Prof Anil Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, highlighted the impact of neuroscience research in India. — TNS
