New president for ABVP

Chandigarh, August 10

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) decided to change its president and named Kuldeep Panghal from the Geography Department for the post on Friday.

Panghal has filled the enrolment form for PhD at the Geography Department. The ABVP has claimed that Rishabh Singhal, who was given the charge of president in March, has been going through family problems and wouldn’t be able to campaign.

The ABVP has put up a three-tier system — university-level, faculty-level and department-level — in place for the elections. “We may contest alone for the president’s post, but even if we have an alliance with another party, we will not leave the post of the president,” said Harmanjot Singh, ABVP leader. — TNS
