New migration rules for admission to various courses at Panjab University are on Syndicate agenda. Different faculties have recommended different criteria for mid-course admissions.

The Syndicate is meeting on May 26.

Faculty of Arts and Languages

The inter-university migration will not be allowed. It should be allowed in MA third semester. The vacant seats will be filled on merit based on marks in the first and second semester. The same condition is applicable to private candidates also.

Faculty of Science

BSc (HS) and MSc (HS) in a respective subject under the framework of Honors School system constitute the integrated course in various subjects at the university. The implementation of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is in progress and in 2018-19, the system will enter the BSc (HS) fifth semester.

The direct migration to MSc (HS) in various science departments on the PU campus is not recommended. The lateral entry is recommended in the third semester of BSc (HS) only if seats are available and marks of candidates is at least 60 per cent in the first two semesters.

There is no provision of migration in departments of Music, Indian Theatre, Art History and Visual Arts and Faculty of Business, Management and Commerce.

Faculty of Education

The migration will be allowed if seats are available in MEd. The entry is allowed only in the third and fifth semester in BA-BEd and third semester in MEd if all papers in previous semesters are cleared.

The migration will be on the basis of merit of semesters first and second for admission to the third semester in MEd and merit of third and fourth semester would be considered for the fifth semester of BA-BEd.

University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has no provision of migration.

In the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, migration is allowed only to Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur, in the third semester on the basis of marks of first and second semester. Only those students could migrate who have qualified JEE, which is an all India engineering test.

There is no change in migration rules of three-year LLB and five-year BA-LLB/BCom-LLB. In three-year law course, migration is allowed in the third and fifth semester, while in five-year law course, it is allowed in third, fifth and seventh semester.

For dental institute, the migrations will be allowed only in the third semester if first and second semesters are passed. There is an essential requirement of NOC from both the institutes, and migration would not be allowed in the same city.
