Panchkula, June 14

Gangster Sampat Nehra, who is in the custody of Haryana special task force (STF), had provided mobile phone to another gangster Deepak Kumar before freeing him from the clutches of cops at a hospital here on June 17 last year.

Sources said Nehra, who was in police remand, disclosed that other gang members, including Satbir Singh and Joginder Singh, were in constant touch with Deepak on WhatsApp before freeing him. They all were members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Nehra was arrested by a team of the Haryana STF in Hyderabad on June 6. The gangster was brought to Panchkula on the night of June 10.

Three armed men, including Nehra, had fired into the air and used pepper spray on the hospital staff and the police to free Deepak, who was brought from the Ambala jail to the Panchkula hospital for a medical examination. Nehra was also involved in a firing incident in Morni last year.

It is worth mentioning here that in the Haryana Prisons Department report on the escape of undertrial Deepak, Vishal Chhibber, Deputy Superintendent (Prisons) (Administration), and Balwinder Singh, a doctor in the Ambala jail, were held responsible. While the doctor had recommended an MRI of the gangster’s MRI, the Deputy Superintendent (Prisons) approved it.
