Governor flags off Run for Unity at Sukhna Lake

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore flagged off a ‘Run for Unity’ from Sukhna Lake here today to mark the celebrations of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore flagged off a ‘Run for Unity’ from Sukhna Lake here today to mark the celebrations of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).

A large number of people participated in the event to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Parimal Rai, Adviser to the UT Administrator; Arun Kumar Gupta, Home Secretary; Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary; Sanjay Beniwal, DGP; KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation; and Mandip Brar, Deputy Commissioner; were also present on the occasion.

The “Run for Unity” began with a march past by the Police Department. It was followed by a pledge that was administered by the UT Administrator. People from all walks of life took part in the Run for Unity at Sukhna Lake. The three-km run began from Sukhna Lake.

Badnore also flagged off a walkathon organised by the Income tax Department at Sukhna Lake.

The Chandigarh BJP also organised a ‘Run for Unity’ at Sukhna Lake. The Minority Morcha of the BJP also started a motorbike rally from the BJP office, Kamalam, to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon led the ‘Run for Unity’.

NHAI organises ‘Run for Unity’ at Lalru

Lalru: A ‘Run for Unity’ was organised by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as ‘Iron Man of India’, at Lalru on Wednesday. KL Sachdeva, project director, NHAI, led the rally from the GMR Ambala-Chandigarh Expressway Private Limityed office at the toll plaza to Dappar. OC
