The Vigilance Department of the UT Administration has directed the Municipal Corporation to take action against the company which constructed the Rs 50-crore multi-level parking lot in Sector 17 after it failed to remove the defects at the lot.
Sources said the department had sent a communication to the Principal Secretary, Local Government, after completing a probe into the matter. In 2016, the Vigilance had collected samples of the material used in the construction after a complaint was submitted by residents. Two costly vehicles of residents were damaged due to leakage at the lot which contained some chemical. They lodged complaints with the Administration following which a Vigilance inquiry was marked into the matter.
Traders of Sector 17 also raised the issue after the parking started leaking once again during the recent rain.
The mul-tilevel parking, constructed on 4.78 acres, has a capacity to accommodate around 950 cars. The parking has eight lifts and two computerised ticket counters at the entry and exit points.
