Mullanpur carjacking ‘cracked’, three in net

Nine days after a Swift car was forcibly taken away from a youth, Amandeep Singh, at gunpoint on the Mullanpur-Baddi road, the Mohali police are said to have picked up three miscreants and worked out the case.

Though the police remained tightlipped on the matter, sources said the three miscreants were in police net. 

A senior official of the Mohali police confirmed the development on condition of anonymity, saying that the details would be shared soon. 

Five carjackers, who came in a silver Swift car, had taken away a white Swift car from Amandeep Singh, who runs a salon at Sector 40, Chandigarh, at gunpoint on November 27 around 8.25 pm. After identifying the silver Swift car from CCTV footage, the police had rounded up the car owner, a resident of Bantpur village in the Mullanpur area. The car owner told the police that his brother-in-law had taken the car from him on the pretext of some work. Later, the police had identified three of the five miscreants  and had also recovered the car.

The case
