A moving car caught fire in Sector 27 here on Saturday. However, no major loss was reported in the incident. The car driver escaped unhurt as he managed to come out of the vehicle on time.

However, bonnet, engine and battery got damaged in the fire. Ankit, a resident of Sector 6, Panchkula, who was driving Skoda Laura, came out of the car as he saw smoke emanating from the bonnet.

Following this, a fire station was informed and a fire tender from Sector 17 rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The incident took place when he reached near the Sector 27/28 light point at 11 am.

The firemen said it seemed to be a case of short-circuit.
