Mohali, June 13
The owner of a leading sweets shop — “Hoshiarpurian di Hatti” — in Phase 3B2 here has been booked for causing death due to negligence and rash driving after he hit a 26-year-old biker. Ankit Sharma was allegedly driving a Mercedes car when he hit the victim, a construction company employee, on Tuesday night near the Phase 10/11 light point.
The victim, Shankar Kumar, hailing from Bihar, lived in Jagatpura village. He was returning home on his motorcycle around midnight when the Mercedes car, allegedly being driven by Sharma, hit him. He was taken to the Civil Hospital, Phase 6, where he was declared brought dead.
A case of causing death due to negligence and rash driving was registered against Sharma, who is yet to be arrested. — TNS
