More than 1 lakh examined at health camp

The District Health Department under the ‘Punjab Sehat Muhim’ has conducted a check-up of more than one lakh people in three weeks. 

As many as 1,12,970 people underwent health checkup under a special health drive, which aimed at spreading awareness of health services. 

The Health Department stated that special medical camps were organised in more than 586 villages of the Patiala district under the drive, which commenced on January 29.

Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit Singh said, “We have gone all out to reach maximum number of people in the district so that they can get maximum benefits of the health services. Until now, we have got a good response from the public.”

Six health awareness vans were deputed to make people aware of ‘Janani Surkhya Yojna’, ‘Janani Shishu Surkhya Karyakaram’, tuberculosis, hepatitis C relief fund, ‘Cancer Ahat Yozna, ‘Sarbat Sehat Bima Yozna and other welfare health schemes, he added.

Out of 1,12,970 patients, who attended the camp 62,715 were treated by allopathic doctors, 18,228 by homeopathic doctors and 20,860 by ayurvedic doctors, the Health Department added. 

Basic blood tests of as many as 27, 859 patients were done on the spot, Dr Manjit added. “All these patients were provided free medicines. Among these, 927 patients requiring further health treatment have been referred to nearby higher health centres,” he said.
