The sleuths of the special task force (STF) in Mohali arrested two persons in separate cases after recovering 50-gm heroin and banned injections from their possession here.

The suspects have been identified as Anil Kumar, alias Monu, from Fazilka and Gaurav Kumar, a resident of Shamli village, Uttar Pradesh.

Harpreet Singh, AIG (STF), Ropar range, said Monu was arrested with 50-gm heroin at a naka laid at Madanpur chowk. “He was coming from the Chandigarh side to Mohali on his motorcycle when he was nabbed by our team,” the AIG said.

He said during interrogation, he confessed that he came to Chandigarh around four months ago to operate a cab here. “Monu jumped into the drug world after coming in contact with a person living in a PG accommodation at Mataur village in Mohali, who promised to give him Rs 20,000 per month for supplying drugs,” the AIG said and added that according to Monu’s statement, he started the drug business around 25 days ago. A case against Monu has been registered under Sections 21, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act at the STF Police Station at Phase 4 here.

In the second case, the police arrested Gaurav, who was also coming from Chandigarh to supply banned injections. “We recovered Buprenorphine, Pheniramine Maleate injections and syringes from his possession,” AIG Harpreet Singh said. Gaurav confessed that Aman had given him Rs 9,000 from which he bought the injections, he added. A case has been registered.
