Mohali, October 23

The district administration is all set to rope in schools, colleges and private educational institutions to achieve cent per cent enrolment of new woman and ‘divyangjan’ voters.

District Election Officer Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, who is also the Deputy Commissioner, has asked electoral registration officers of Mohali, Kharar and Dera Bassi to adopt specific methodology to achieve the target.

Sapra said, “Since these institutions already have their (voters) age and residence proofs and Form-6, only a photographer is to be arranged for the purpose.”

He asked the officials concerned to get assistance of anganwadi/Asha workers for enrolment of married woman and girls, who had left schools. He also directed them to complete the project by first week of November.

“We are also planning to give special incentives such as pens and appreciation certificates to all new voters,” said Sapra. — TNS
