Newly elected Congress MLA Pardeep Chaudhary says that though his party is not in power but he would continue to raise the public issues like basic civic amenities in the Haryana assembly. In a conversation with Sanjay Bumbroo, the 58-year-old politician spells out his priorities for the development of the Kalka constituency.

What are your priorities for the constituency?

I will focus on providing basic amenities in Kalka and Pinjore, like safe drinking water, roads and electricity. Many villages in my constituency do not have roads or proper electricity and it would be my endeavour to construct the roads and upgrade the electricity so that people do not face any problem.

How will you deal with drug menace?

I will try to take people along with me to launch a crusade against the drug mafia. I have already directed my supporters to keep tabs on the drug peddlers and take the help of the police.

How will you solve the traffic problem?

It has been a major issue in this constituency as many people have been suffering from traffic jam from the past many years despite the construction of the bypass. I will try to speed up the work on the Sukhomajri bypass to connect Pinjore with Baddi, Nalagarh of Himachal Pradesh and other areas which would help in easing the traffic in the two towns.

How will you bring projects to your area as your party is not in power?

I have decided to hold meetings with the people in his constituency and would prepare a list of their problems and needs. After this I will consistently raise these issues in the Haryana Assembly.
