Minor raped in Mohali

Mohali, June 11

The local police have arrested a 20-year-old migrant for raping a three-year-old girl.

The accused has been identified as Sonu, who lives in a hutment in Sohana area.

Giving details, Inspector Manphul Singh, SHO, Sohana police station, said the victim’s parents, who were daily wagers, had gone for work when their neighbour Sonu committed the crime. “A neighbor of the victim’s parents informed them about the incident, which occurred around 3 pm. The couple shifted their daughter to a hospital where doctors provided medical attention to the child,” said Inspector Manphul Singh, adding that the medical reports of the victim confirmed that she was raped.

Inspector Manphul Singh added that the accused was trying to flee when he was nabbed at his hutment. A case was registered against him at the Sohana police station.

Sonu was produced before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody. — TNS
