To bring down the number of maternity deaths in the region, the Mohali Obstetric Gynaecological Society (MOHOGS), along with the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), organised a conference on ‘Infertility and Adbhut Matrutva’.

Over 200 gynaecologists from various hospitals, including the PGI, GMSH-16, GMCH-32, Mohali, Panchkula, Shimla, Patiala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Rajpura, Baddi and Amritsar,  participated.

Dr Preeti Jindal, Vice-President, MOHOGS, said: “India’s maternal mortality rate (MMR) — the number of maternal deaths per 1,00,000 live births — is 130 (2014-16) as per the census and government’s aim is to decrease it to 70 by 2030.” — TNS
