MC suspends fitter on corruption charges

The Commissioner, Municipal Corporation (MC), Patiala, Gurpreet Singh Khaira, has suspended an employee Rajesh Kumar, who works as a fitter in the civic body. The action was taken after charges of corruption were levelled against him.

Rajesh has been working as fitter in the Plumbing Department of the MC. Officials said they received multiple complaints against the accused employee for allegedly demanding bribe for sanctioning water and sewerage connections.

Video recordings of the suspended employee demanding bribe from applicants had been retrieved, officials added. Meanwhile, MC Joint Commissioner Ankur Mohendru has been instructed to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

“We have received video recordings in which Rajesh is allegedly asking money from the complainant,” said Khaira.
