MC inspector caught taking Rs 2,500 bribe

An inspector of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH), MC, was arrested by UT Vigilance sleuths while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 at Sector 29 here today.

Vigilance sleuths stated that Ajay, a resident of Ram Darbar, who is working with the MOH on contract basis, had approached them with a complaint.

In the complaint, Ajay stated that he was posted in the sanitation area of Sector 29 under the supervision of the suspect, Naresh Kumar. He added that earlier this month, he was transferred to the horticulture wing, but he wanted to return to his previous posting. So, he approached Naresh with a request to transfer him back. Naresh allegedly sought a bribe of Rs 2,500 for this.

Ajay then approached the Vigilance sleuths, who laid a trap and nabbed the suspect while accepting the bribe.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, has been registered at the Vigilance police station.

The complaint

The complainant, Ajay, stated that he was posted in the sanitation area under the supervision of the suspect, Naresh Kumar. He was transferred to the horticulture wing recently and wanted to return to his previous posting. So, he approached Naresh with a request to transfer him back and the suspect allegedly sought a bribe of Rs 2,500.
