Maths workshop inaugurated at PU

CHANDIGARH: Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar inaugurated a week-long national workshop on ‘Continuum mechanics: Principles and applications” at the Department of Mathematics here on Monday.

Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar inaugurated a week-long national workshop on ‘Continuum mechanics: Principles and applications” at the Department of Mathematics here on Monday.

The workshop is sponsored by the National Centre of Mathematics, a joint venture of IIT-Bombay and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.

As many as 50 persons from across the country are expected to attend the workshop. Dr Dilbag Singh, a UGC-assistant professor, is the convener of the workshop.

The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the participants and shared his experience about mathematics. Prof Ramesh Chander, a retired professor from IIT-Roorkee was the chief guest. — TNS
