Chandigarh, September 5

The UT police have registered a case against persons who had lured a 26-year-old woman, a native of Manipur, to Chandigarh on the pretext of providing her a job and had plans to get her kidney transplanted.

The woman reached the city, along with her four-year-old child, on August 28, after the suspects claimed that she would be given a job.

The suspects, who received the victim at the airport in Mohali, took her to Khuda Jassu where she stayed for a few days. She was taken to the hospital for some tests. Earlier, the victim was not aware of the intentions of the suspects.

However, when she came to know that the suspects wanted to get her kidney transplanted, she escaped from the house.

The victim, through some students from Manipur residing in the city, managed to get in touch with the women helpline that further informed the police. Forged affidavits in which the victim and her family had consented for transplant were also recovered from the victim’s possession. A case has been registered against the suspects. — TNS
