Chandigarh: A Mauli Jagran resident was robbed of Rs 15,000 and a mobile phone by an unknown person at his house on Monday. According to the police, the victim, Ram Asre, a resident of EWS Colony, Mauli Jagran, reported that an unknown person entered his house and robbed him of Rs 15,000 and a mobile phone at knife-point. A case under Sections 397 (robbery or dacoity with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of the IPC has been registered at the Mauli Jagran police station. Owner held for vehicle theft

Chandigarh: An MUV owner has been arrested for stealing the vehicle, which was towed away by the police for wrong parking and brought to the Traffic Park, Sector 23. Head Constable Jaswinder Singh of the traffic wing, reported that they had towed away a wrongly parked Innova from the Sector 22 market. The vehicle was brought to the Traffic Park. The complainant stated that while he was checking the impounded vehicles, an unknown person came and drove away the Innova. The police said a case of theft was registered at the Sector 17 police station. Later, it was found that the MUV owner, Amit Sharma, a resident of Dhanas, had stolen the vehicle. He was arrested in the case. TNS

2 UT police inspectors shifted to Vigilance

Chandigarh: Two Inspectors of the UT police were transferred to the Vigilance Department on Tuesday. Inspector Usha, who was posted with the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell, and Inspector Kirpal Singh of the Economic Offences Wing, have been shifted. TNS

Office-bearers elected

Chandigarh: Newly elected president of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal Anil Vohra has announced new executive body of the association on Tuesday. Charanjiv Singh has been nominated as the chairman, while Satpal Gupta, Diwakar Sahoonja, Parshotam Mahajan and Gursharan Batra have been nominated as patrons. Other office-bearers include Subhash Narang as senior vice-president; Naresh Mahajan, Sanjive Chadha, Pardeep Malhotra and Baljinder Gujral as general secretaries and Radhey Lal Bajaj as finance secretary. Two functional units

Chandigarh: The Department of Radiotherapy, PGI, will have two functional units from April 1 this year for better patient management. These two units will have the following faculty on duty. Unit I will be headed by Prof Sushmita Ghoshal, Head, Department of Radiotherapy. The OPD for this unit will function on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Saturday will be the operation theatre day. Unit II will be headed by Prof Rakesh Kapoor of the Department of Radiotherapy. The OPD for this unit will function on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Tuesday will be the operation theatre day. Patients will be treated as disease management groups. TNS
